Can lack of exercise and high blood pressure produce symptoms similar to Attention Deficit Disorder or Attention Deficit Hyperactive Disorder?

My son is almost 7 and is generally a good kid. He’s got a great heart. Lately I’ve noticed that he is starting to have problems focusing on certain things. If I give him a task to do and I don’t make sure that I have his undivided attention while speaking to him, he won’t do it and if I ask him to repeat back to me what I just said, he doesn’t know. I’ve also noticed that if I give him a list of things to remember, he has a hard time retaining that information. Should I have him tested? If so, do I go through his pediatrician for that or a mental health facility?

I have what I think is major depressive disorder, but having recently switched psychiatrists my new one now wants me to go for a CT scan to rule out any possibility of another disorder – which I’ll soon be attending. The only other disorder that this could possibly be, at least from my perspective, is Attention Deficit Disorder. Would a CT Scan show the brain abnormalities associated with the disorder?

I have struggled with ADD my entire life. I was reading at college level in 6th grade, passed every test with no lower than a 97, and won my grade school, and high school geography and spelling bees four years in a row. The funny part is, i almost failed out of high school because i could not do homework. I just simply could NOT force myself to do it. Stimulant based treatments were met with little to no success…Adderall, Ritalin, Desoxy, Dexadrin, you name it i’ve tried it, and absolutely NOTHING works, i met some success with Klonopin (self administered) but with side effects that negated it’s usefulness. I was started on another medication, the name of which escapes me, which is an SNRI, and i was unable to gauge its effectiveness due to high levels of nausea.
so here’s my question: WHAT DO I DO!?!?!?!

ADD is unbearably frustrating and i need help. any suggestions of things i havent tried?

I know for a fact that birth defects like deafness, blindness, congenital heart and down syndrome are causes of german measles, chicken pox, high fever, asthma or mother conceiving babies in their old age and etc… but what causes autism and attention deficits? can they be acquired or really inborn?
